This rifle was built for a collector, this is one of several that I built for him. He named the rifle after his daughter, Alexandria.
This wood is a very hard piece of curly maple. I stained it very, very dark to accentuate the silver and gold inlays.
The rifle has a lot of silver and gold wire inlay, in both the wood and the metal. It took me six months to complete this rifle.
The lock, frizzen and release plate are Damascus steel inlaid with silver and gold. Notice the piercing in the trigger.
The silver and gold was cut out of a solid sheet of metal inlaid into the wood and engraved after it was in place.
The wood is high relief carved in several spots, around the tang, on both sides of the butt stock and behind the cheek piece.
The hardware is all steel, high relief engraved with the background matted out to blend with the Damascus steel. All steel parts have an antique finish.
I don’t know how many inlays there are in this rifle, too many to count. Of all the rifles I’ve built, this was my biggest challenge.
